When we first contacted you, we were just exploring what it would cost to replace the wind damaged portion of the siding on our home. Our insurance company wasn't hopeful that they would cover the damage to our 20+ year old siding, but we called you back to get a quote anyway. After some encouraging words from you, we went ahead and put in the claim and with some more expert advice and help meeting with the adjuster, we got the money we needed to replace not just the main damage to the home, but the WHOLE HOUSE as well. Your expertise and knowledge of the industry and work with the insurance company was invaluable.
When the siding work had begun, you double-checked to make sure that all the things we asked for were being done and your crew was efficient and professional in taking care of everything in less than four days. We were amazed at how fast they worked! The final result is gorgeous and I have to say, it is the best looking house in the neighborhood! Your advice to replace the gutters to match the new siding was also very good and again, it is a great addition to our home.

I got five bids, but could have saved myself the trouble by simply going to you first. The initial round of windows you installed in 1999 were very good then, and this final round of the remaining 23 windows is outstanding!
We are especially pleased by the promptness of your response, the professionalism of the company, the quality of the product, the outstanding workmanship of the installation team, and the price!
The house is quieter than I knew it could be and, we've turned the thermostats down six to ten degrees and still have a toasty environment. Yea!

"Working with Carefree Exteriors for my window replacements was a joy. Before
meeting John Chipman (owner) I had dreaded shopping for windows. I knew of
so many people that had the experience of high-pressure sales people coming
to your home, selling only one type of window, and not getting a good value
and/or getting shoddy work on the installation.
Carefree Exteriors carries a number of windows and I have yet to meet anyone
as knowledgeable about windows as John and he is able to cut through all the
marketing hype. He's been in the business for many years and does a great
job of explaining the different window options and making sure you get what
is best for you and within your budget. There's no pressure and John shows a
genuine interest in you as an individual.
I've had my windows replaced in phases over the past 3 years and each time
the service has been excellent. Carefree uses a crew of installers that he

"Over 18 years ago, Carefree Exteriors installed our replacement windows, and we are still every bit as happy with them today as we were when they were first installed. So, we naturally thought of you when it came time to replace our old pressboard siding, which was starting to deteriorate and get "squishy", depite our best efforts at regular maintenance. We are thrilled with the results of our decision to use Carefree again.
The Craneboard siding looks drop-dead gorgeous, and even after this short a time, we can notice a very real improvement in exterior sound deadening, reduced air infiltration, and the disappearance of previous "hot spots" on the exterior-facing walls and on the second-story floorboard where it cantilevers over the great outdoors.
Even better was your crew. Their courtesy, impeccable workmanship, obvious pride in their craft, and the thoroughness of their cleanup after the job was finished reinforced our already strong opinion that we had gone with the right company. Besides all that, they were just plain great guys! I have to be honest - I think our dog misses them, now that she has only us old people to hang around with again.

Dear John , "I'm Sorry it took me so long to write the comments
on the troubleshooter page. I was sitting in the living room
the other night thinking about how nice it was not to feel
that cold draft anymore from the old windows and resolved
to get this done. Following is a copy of what I posted. After
checking the troubleshooter sponsor list we contacted 4 of
the firms listed for window replacement. The first company
we went to was Carefree Exteriorsbecause of their web
site and were amazed at how easy and convenient it was to
get a quote. We then contacted the others from our list and
had them come to our house to measure and quote us on the
windows. To our surprise Carefree was several hundred $$ cheaper
than our lowest quote and over $1,200 cheaper than our most
expensive quote. After several conversations with John the
owner, and visiting the distributors showrooms for the 2 windows
we were trying to decide on, one of his crews installed them.
We had a dispute with the manufacturer on the style of night
locks on the window and John stepped in for us with the manufacturer
and had them compensate us for the last window of the order
we had postponed until the remodeling of our bathroom was
done. It was refreshing to work with someone who took great
pride in there work as well as customer satisfaction."
